A Galvan London Wedding Dress

I wore a Galvan dress. I used the Harvey Nichols private shopping option for my dress, as they were one of the few suppliers of Galvan Bridal dresses and I knew I loved all their dresses. It’s free to use their private shopping services and I highly recommend them.

Mary-Ellen helped me find my shoes to match and introduced me to Emily London who created a bespoke veil to go with my grandmothers wax headpiece which she had worn on her wedding day in the 1950’s.

The Groom

Joe wore a bespoke suit from Richard James. He also wore a Drakes silk yellow tie and and a Liberty print pocket square that I made myself.

Ceremony

My dad accompanied me down the aisle to ‘Am I The Same Girl?’ By Barbara Acklin.

Our rings were by Clio Saskia. We used to work with her at the pub we met at. She hand makes all of her jewellery and she made our rings from the same piece of gold.

My sister read the Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear. This was our favourite book as children. And one of Joe’s best men made a reading on life advice by Homer Simpson as he loves the Simpsons.

My favourite moments were during the ceremony. I didn’t think it would be very significant before but it turned out to be the best part of the day.

A Champagne Tower

One of my favourite things of the day was a champagne tower. We used pink champagne and this was for the first toast after the ceremony. It was a great photo opportunity and lots of fun!

How They Met

We met when Joe was a chef at a gastro pub and I got a job as a waitress there – I was the worst waitress ever.

We got engaged seven years later, in December 2020.

Unfortunately due to the rainy weather, we had to move the ceremony indoors at the very last minute but thankfully this had already been set up with the evening’s disco balls which added a bit of extra sparkle to the ceremony.

For the marquee, we originally started with a very clean white palette enhanced by bright flowers, but a few weeks before the wedding, Izzy and Joe decided that they wanted a bit more colour brought into the room.

We did this by adding deep blue table linen & glassware paired with pastel candles and brass candle holders.

The table plan, table names and placecards were all handwritten and painted by Izzy’s stepdad, Mark Crick.

For the evening, Izzy and Joe really wanted their guests to spend all night on the dance floor, so we kicked this off the Disco & Funk Soul vibes with Miami Sound Machine ‘Conga’ from the marquee to the party barn, led by Girls That Mix on bongo drums & sax. We added in late night pizzas from Dough Disciples as well as crates of artisan crisps throughout the bar for anyone feeling peckish!

We were able to create a day that felt incredibly emotional and personal to them and their family whilst also embracing their fun side, with some of the most beautiful moments between not only the bride  and goom, but also grandmother, mother and daughter, on the morning of the wedding.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

Our nine month old daughter, Minnie, was also there and although it was hard work juggling being a mum and a bride on the same day, I’m grateful she was there with us.

If your budget allows, hire a wedding planner! They truly take the stress of the day away and are worth their weight in gold.
