Joanna in David Fielden for her Spring Flowers Inspired Wedding at Wick Farm, Bath

Dan and Joanna’s beautiful Spring wedding took place on 27th May this year at Wick Farm in Bath.

The couple were inspired by the beauty of Spring florals and prioritised their wedding budget in the most beautiful blooms on the day.

Joanna found her David Fielden wedding dress at Love My Dress preferred bridal boutique, Carina B Couture and these gorgeous, romantic images were captured by our recommended, Shropshire based wedding photographers, Bethany and James. I adore how this creative wedding photography and videography real life couple capture the most intimate and meaningful moments in the softest, most romantic style.

Enjoy!

Shoes, Veil & Accessories

My veil was also from Carina B Couture, my shoes were Charlotte Mills and my headband is by Dolecka.

The earrings that my late grandad gave my mum for her wedding day. We got them plated with white gold to match the rest of my wedding jewellery. It was a pleasure and an honour to wear them and made it feel like my grandad was with us.

A David Fielden Wedding Dress

My dress was a David Fielden design from Carina B Couture, who were very professional from start to finish. The whole team were so helpful and made me feel relaxed and comfortable throughout. I would absolutely recommend Carina and the team to any bride, I cannot thank them enough!

I loved how simple my dress was, but with the small added details of some beading. The headband I wore really made the whole outfit come together. It is not the sort of dress I thought I would pick, but as soon as I tried it on I loved it!

Wick Farm, Bath Wedding Venue

We saw a lot of venues, but Wick Farm is the only venue that stood out for us. We loved the picturesque countryside backdrop and thought the barn itself was so beautiful.

We always wanted to have our ceremony outside at the venue, and Wick Farm had a fantastic space that worked so well within the overall grounds of the venue.

Ceremony

Yes I walked down the aisle with my dad to the sound of Flyte and the Staves by White Roses.

We absolutely loved making our rings with Roderick Vere. We spent a session with Rod talking about wedding rings, options, materials, colours, finishes, to really pin down what sort of ring we both wanted.

Sweet little flowergirl and page boy holding hands whilst walking down the aisle.

We then went back a few weeks later after he had purchased the necessary material, to make the rings ourself in a 4 hour workshop. It was such a great experience and one of our highlights of the wedding process.

Photography by Bethany & James

Yes we would 100% recommend our photographers Bethany and James. We always loved how beautiful and natural their photos were and were thrilled that they were able to do our wedding. They were absolutely incredible on the day and made everyone feel at ease

They made us feel comfortable and relaxed despite neither of us really liking posing for photos. Could not recommend them more, so so so amazing!

How They Met

We met at an 18th birthday party of a mutual friend. We became engaged in September, in Prague in 2019 after we had been dating for eight years.

We were engaged for two and a half years before our wedding day. It was due to be August 2021 but it was postponed due to the pandemic.

We postponed our wedding date from August 2021 to May 2022 as we were concerned about having limited guest numbers. Thankfully all of our suppliers could be moved to our new date, apart from our wedding cake.

We always wanted a spring wedding, but went for August as we were getting married on a Friday and aimed for a date before Dan’s niece started primary school. Postponing due to Covid gave us the chance to have a spring wedding like we always wanted (and luckily it was an inset day in the end!)

Floral Inspiration

Our main inspiration was Spring weddings – we wanted wild flowers, orange tones, vintage furniture and lots of candles – to make a cosy and intimate setting for our friends and family.

Our florist was Bramble and Wild. We wanted the flowers to be wild and rustic. Natural colours with pops or oranges and succulents throughout. Focusing on spring flowers and the change of the season.

Reception

Our cake was by The Cake Architect – it was a two tier iced cake with dried edible flowers on the outside, to match the flowers and colour scheme of the whole wedding. We also had cupcakes with piping work of succulents on top.

Joanna’s cousin kindly designed and printed all of our wedding stationery.

Our napkins and place settings were hired from Boelle Events and our tables and chairs rented from Bath Vintage Hire.

Evening & Entertainment

In the evening, we danced to Neil Young’s Harvest Moon. We both love Neil Young, and this song in particular really resonated with us and how we see this marriage as the beginning of the rest of our lives together.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

Don’t worry too much about the small things and don’t overthink it. It all comes together in the end!

Remember – everyone is there to celebrate your love and your marriage.

We exceeded our budget by about £3000 – mostly due to flowers!
