We’re in the wilderness of an Aberdeenshire forest today for the winter wedding of editorial administrator Tolu and Lewis, an internal audit manager. Having met at church, the couple’s Christian faith was at the centre of their celebrations.
They married in their church on 12 February 2022 before hosting a cosy, candle-lit reception for their loved ones at Glen Tanar, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The day had a warm colour palette inspired by the Scottish woodland, with rich greens, browns, reds, creams and tweeds, with nods to Lewis’ Scottish background too.
The Engagement
We both attend the same church and had been decent acquaintances for a while. One day, Lewis asked me out for a coffee and the rest is history.
I was tricked into the engagement; I thought we were in the forest for a photo shoot but that wasn’t the whole plan. We were engaged for five months before the wedding day.
The Wedding Party
My bridesmaids were in gowns from Tahlira and they wore Etsy earrings.
Lewis’ kilt and suit were from Georgian Dress Hire in Aberdeen.
Photography & Film
Our photographer was Cr8 Moments London, who also provided us with a beautiful short film that we will cherish forever. Kingsley is already a friend to us but the experience was nothing short of professional. We felt at ease the whole way through and would highly recommend him.
The Look
My dress was from Best Dress 2 Impress Bridal. Sharon was honest and lovely. I would highly recommend her services if you live in London.
I wore a veil which was also from Best Dress 2 Impress and my shoes were ASOS. I had earrings from Emilia Rae Bridal. My hair pin was from Cotswold Bridal Accessories via Etsy.Basic Content
I chose perfume from & Other Stories – Sardonyx Fire.
The Reception
The catering was provided via the venue and a family friend made our wedding cake.
A family friend was our florist and we added eucalyptus, large candles and glass to the venue. For favours, we used small, drawstring, gift pouches and filled them with little treats.
We chose woodland, browns and greens, which was nice as it really went well with the beautiful Scottish scenery, especially at that time of the year.
Words of Wedded Wisdom
Planning can be very stressful. Don’t be afraid to delegate and ask people for help.
If it’s overwhelming, just scale it down.
