Whether you’re newlyweds, a new couple spending your first Christmas together or recently engaged and just want to celebrate the season with some romantic dates, we’ve compiled a handy list of date night ideas for the festive season.

1. Go Ice Skating

Perhaps the ultimate romantic date night idea, there are myriad ice rinks on offer across the UK this festive season in gorgeous settings, from the Natural History Museum in London to ice skating at Birmingham and Edinburgh’s Christmas markets. Warm up with a mince pie and mulled wine afterwards – but get in there quick, because tickets are already selling out!

2. Watch a Movie at a Winter-Themed Cinema

Watching Love Actually, Elf or The Holiday with your loved one surrounded by a festive winter wonderland scene – what could be more romantic?! Backyard Cinema in London is one of our faves with its Winter Garden and Snow Kingdom and a huge range of movie choices or, this winter, Luna Cinema are offering drive-in cinema experiences to watch your favourite movies in optimum comfort. 3. Visit a Christmas Market

It’s not Christmas without a visit to a romantic Christmas market to really warm your cockles. Luckily, the UK is jam-packed full of them. Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is a top bet, with endless romantic activities on offer, from rides on the Big Wheel to cosy mulled wine tents and festive food stalls, while across the country, everywhere from Bath to York offers world-class Christmas markets, too. Alternatively, why not head on a super-romantic mini-break to a European city like Berlin or Amsterdam for the perfect festive couples holiday?

4. Go to a Christmas Tree Farm

Whether it’s your first or fourteenth Christmas together, going to a Christmas tree farm to pick out your own tree for your home is one of the most festive activities out there for couples. The perfect date idea, going to the theatre together is a wonderfully festive activity. Why not buy tickets as part of each other’s Christmas gifts? The likes of Swingers and Junkyard Golf offer cocktails and excellent food, as well as big group bookings that are perfect if you want to make it a fun double – or triple – date.

4. Go on a Winter Walk

OK, this one might sound simple, but we think there’s nothing more romantic than heading out to a beautiful location near you and walking for hours with your loved one – finished off with a cosy pub lunch or movie night at home.
